Paik rises to challenge as Blues set for sprint finish
Birmingham Mail
|March 13, 2025
BLUES continued their crusade towards the Championship with another victory at St Andrew's on Tuesday night.
Kieran Dowell scored a penalty for the second successive game and Paik Seung-ho added the all-important second goal after half-time to dismiss Stevenage.
Ryan Allsop was denied his 21st clean sheet of the season by Stevenage substitute Jake Young in stoppage time but that was a minor blot on another successful evening for Chris Davies and his League One leaders.
Blues now have an advantage of 14 points at the top of the table. Here are the talking points.
Almost there
Realistically, 90 points will probably see Blues promoted and they now have 82.
In all-but one of the last ten League One seasons 90 points was enough to clinch automatic promotion and all the signs suggest it will be this year. That means Blues are effectively three wins away with 11 games to play. Mathematically, they need another 17 points to guarantee automatic promotion but that is working on the assumption that Wrexham and Wycombe win all of their remaining matches.
