Northfield look to end with perfect record

WITH just one more fixture to play in the Kings Norton League, Northfield have already won the league title as their 50 points is eight more than their nearest rivals Copper Fox.

- By ALAN TOWE

But the big question is will Northfield complete the season with an undefeated record as currently they have won all 25 of their fixtures and require just one more to make it a clean sweep. The match between Northfield and second placed Copper Fox was postponed, Copper Fox having 42 points which is enough to ensure they finish as runners-up in the league as they have a six-point advantage over third in the table Bournbrook plus a game in hand.

At the other end of the table could it be that Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club will finish their season without a single win. With just two more games remaining they are still without a single point having lost all of their 24 games.

The Sheldon and District Summer League are up to week five and in group one Raven Arrows had a maximum from Jack Alexander and the 6-3 result at Highwood was enough to keep them top of the table with nine points, three more than second and third placed Trident Spears and Langley Arrows. Trident Spears moved up two places in the table following their 6-2 win at Mackadown Sports and Social Club while Langley Arrows’ game with Brian’s Flights was postponed and they drop from second to third but with a game in hand on both of the two teams above them.

In group two, 180s from Adam Cooksey and Kristian Green saw Banbury Club continue to lead the field, their 5-3 win at Smithswood Social Club keeping them top on average as second-placed RAFA won by the same 5-3 margin at Kingshurst Labour Club to put them level on nine points with Banbury but trailing by three legs of average. The loss for Kingshurst Labour Club leaves them third in the group with six points, three fewer than the two teams above them.
