New children's services director pledges to keep youngsters safe

THE new director of children’s services at Solihull Council has pledged to speak up if ever money was taken out of the service which meant children were not safe.

Arthur Labinjo-Hughes died in 2021
The Conservative-run authority has been on a major improvement journey since the death of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes in 2020 at the hands of his father and his partner, and widespread failings were identified at the council.
The outcome of monitoring visits from Ofsted have since been positive with a full inspection expected before the end of the year.
