Jailed people-smuggler put on future watch list

A CONVICTED people-smuggler has been warned he will stay on a watch list even after serving his prison sentence.

The Serious Crime Prevention Order (SCPO) means failed asylum seeker Ramal Briem, from Wolverhampton, won't be able to talk to criminals after his time inside, according to the National Crime Agency.

A spokesman for the force said the order is designed to prevent further offending by limiting opportunities to take part in illegal activity and making those subject to them less attractive to organised crime gangs.

Iraqi national Briem was arrested by the NCA at his home address in July 2024. The 33-year-old was at the very centre of a “dangerous” network which saw him employ people across the globe in moving Vietnamese migrants through Europe and into Britain for £1,500 per person.
