Hospital offers 'harsh truth' as staff treat stab victims

A BIRMINGHAM Children's Hospital boss has issued a stark message for teenagers carrying knives as staff fight to save the lives of stab victims across the region.

Joining forces with West Midlands Police in an urgent bid to cut knife crime, a hospital surgeon warned: "Carrying a knife does not keep you safe."

Instead, Dr Wright said: "It puts you in more danger, and you're more likely to be killed or injured. There is no safe place to stab anybody, you can bleed to death with a single wound".

In a short video released by the force, "hard-hitting warning messages and practical advice" were given by firearms officers, a surgeon at the hospital and a neighbourhood officer.
