'HMO plan will be no benefit to community'

ANGER has erupted at plans to convert a former office block into a large HMO in the heart of a troubled area of Birmingham.

A proposal has been submitted to Birmingham City Council to change the ex-UK Asian Women’s Centre building in Hamstead Road, Lozells, into a 13-bed-roomed facility with separate communal kitchens, dining and lounge.

If approved, the HMO (House in Multiple Occupation) would be on a stretch already blighted by traffic beggars, fly-tipping and antisocial behaviour, which included a stabbing last month.
