RYDER Cup captain Luke Donald has already spoken to some of his players about mental preparation for the "cauldron" of Bethpage next month.

Europe must be set for tsunami - Luke

Only five players - Rory Mcllroy, Bob MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose and Tyrrell Hatton - have so far qualified but Donald is widely expected to go with 11 of the 12 who won in Rome two years ago.

The only likely change is swapping Rasmus Hojgaard, who needs to finish inside the top 30 at this week's final qualifying event of the Betfred British Masters to take the last automatic spot, for his twin Nicolai.

Matt Wallace, who missed out in 2018 and 2023, and Matt Fitzpatrick - 11th and 12th on the qualifying list - are both at The Belfry this week but the former could be set for more heartbreak.

With LIV golfer Jon Rahm set to retain his place one will have to miss out and Fitzpatrick’s experience will count in his favour.
