COTAI Belle can secure victory in the Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes (GBB Race) (3.30pm) at Newbury this afternoon.
Richard Fahey's two-year-old filly can land the valuable juvenile five-furlong feature in Berkshire.
Warm favourite, the Eve Johnson Houghton-trained Havana Hurricane, clearly sets the standard after his fine victory in the Windsor Castle Stakes at last month's Royal Ascot. But Cotai Belle may be able to deny him following up like the last Royal winner to do so, Ginger Nut, who landed the 2016 Windsor Castle before victory at Newbury.
Cotai Belle also comes to Newbury on the back of two victories, the latest when scoring at Haydock Park at the start of the month following success at Wetherby in June.
The speedy daughter of Cotai Glory was always prominent at Haydock and moved through to lead in the final furlong before scoring by half-a-length from Kesta. She appears to be improving with racing and is sure to enjoy this type of challenge. She is 6lb lower in the weights than the favourite and carries just 8st7lb due to her relatively cheap purchase price.
The Fahey stable has a good record in Super Sprint having won the race three times with Peniaphobia (2013), Lathom (2015) and Bengali Boys (2017) so knows what it takes to land the prize.
Cotai Glory can give him another success but as ever there are plenty in with a chance of denying her.
