A LARGE convoy of travellers returned to land near Alexander Stadium this week, sparking major concerns.

The group parked next to a newly opened play park near the stadium.

Councillor Jon Hunt called the latest in a long line of incursions a 'nuisance' and would make an appeal for more security and fencing.

He said: "It's a real nuisance, it's spoiling the park over the holiday period.

"The site needs to be made secure. They are taking advantage of the fact that renovation works are underway in the park.

"I’m going to have a discussion with the people doing the work and the council could be doing more to secure the fencing."
