Blues need wingers to soar up Championship

BIRMINGHAM City will be able to sign players from June 1 when the first of two EFL summer transfer windows opens, but talks over who will and won’t form part of next season’s squad have been taking place for some time.

Manager Chris Davies will work closely with director of football Craig Gardner to make alterations to the squad which won the League One title in record-breaking style. There will be new faces, including German centre-back Phil Neumann, who will become a Blues player on July 1 when his contract at Hannover 96 expires, and inevitably some will depart.

Our Blues writers, Brian Dick (BD) and Alex Dicken (BD), have been giving their opinions on what should happen at St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park this summer...

What should be Blues’ priority in this summer's transfer window?

BD: If Blues are going to go where Tom Wagner wants to take them they need more quality out wide and more physical presence up top. If you're asking for one priority, it’s three wingers.

AD: The obvious answer is wingers. Blues need some pace out wide, players who can carry them up the field in games where they don’t have 65-75% possession. I also think Blues need to sign a new centre-forward, one with physicality and mobility.
