BBC to make two new TV dramas in West Midlands

THE BBC has confirmed that two new TV dramas will be produced in the West Midlands as part of its biggest expansion in the region in a decade.

The broadcaster announced a ‘transformative’ new deal last week in which it promised to pump millions more than it had first pledged into the region.

Its network television production spend will go from £24 million to £40 million by the end of 2027 and as part of that, two new dramas will be produced here. The Hairdresser Mysteries and Detection Club were announced last week when the BBC offered a first look at the new Digbeth MasterChef studio.

The Hairdresser Mysteries will be filmed in the region too, the broadcaster says.
