EIGHT schools which are part of the Matrix Academy Trust have raised an impressive £47,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, after teachers and staff voted it as their dedicated cause for 2025.

Aligning with the Trust's learning theme of the year, ‘community’, pupils from each school came together in January for an inspiring presentation by the charity and to kick off their fundraising plans.

The pupils discussed their fundraising ideas before presenting them back to their respective head teachers.

Since then, Barr Beacon School, Bloxwich Academy, Dame Elizabeth Cadbury School, Elmwood School, Etone College, Smestow Academy, Turves Green Boys’ School and Wednesfield Academy have taken on various fundraising activities including bake sales, charity football matches, colour runs and loose change coin trails. Barr Beacon School even used their school houses, which are named after hills, to inspire their fundraising, with 40 students of all ages taking sponsored walks up Clent, Bredon, Wrekin and Malvern hills.
