Town set for major roadwork project to start

Bath Chronicle

July 10, 2025

A major overhaul of a key Trow- bridge road system is set to begin in July as Wiltshire Council launches a five-phase upgrade to the Longfield Gyratory, aimed at easing conges- tion and supporting the town's new leisure centre.

The scheme will increase capacity on the gyratory and improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists, with work taking place in stages to limit disruption.

Improvements will include road widening, modernised traffic signals, new crossings, and dedicated access to the leisure centre, currently under construction on the East Wing site at County Hall.

A central feature of the works is the complete modernisation of the existing traffic signals. The current system of manually linked standalone signals will be replaced by two advanced signal controllers to improve flow and enhance pedestrian safety.
