United flights resume after system outage

United Airlines resumed operations late Wednesday after grounding flights across the country earlier in the evening because of a system outage. The Federal Aviation Administration warned that delays may continue.

The airline said in a statement at about 8:30 pm Eastern time (7:30 am yesterday in Thailand) that it was holding aircraft that operated under the United Airlines brand at their departing airports because of a technology issue.

In response to a request for comment at about 10:30 pm, the airline said, “The underlying technology issue has been resolved, and, while we expect residual delays, our team is working to restore our normal operations.”
