Prasert stands by now-cancelled MoU

Pheu Thai Party secretary-general Prasert Jantararuangtong said an MoU signed with a Singapore-based Prime Opportunity Fund VCC, while he was a cabinet minister, signalled no irregularities even though alleged money launderer Benjamin Mauerberger, alias “Ben Smith’, appears in signing ceremony photos.
Mr Prasert said that he attended the event in March 2024 as the MDES minister. He said that he did not personally know Mr Smith and had no role in coordinating attendees.
He said the MoU had been reviewed by related agencies before signing, including the MDES's Office of the Permanent Secretary and Foreign Affairs Division, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the Council of State (OCS), and the Office of the Attorney General (OAG).
