Ministry to seek cabinet approval for B40 flat fare
Bangkok Post
|November 20, 2025
The Transport Ministry is preparing to propose a 40-baht flat fare to the cabinet for approval next week, with the aim of launching the scheme on Dec 1.
According to a ministry source who requested anonymity, by the final week of November the ministry expects to seek cabinet approval of the calculation of a 40-baht flat rate daily pass for the Purple and Red electric train lines.
The pass is to function as a day ticket, allowing passengers unlimited rides in a day, starting from Dec 1.
The measure was previously discussed at the committee meeting for oversight of implementation of the government's electric train fare policy to reduce the cost of living. The Finance Ministry already agreed with the approach and the budget required.
“The 20-baht flat fare for the Purple and Red lines ends on Nov 30,” the source said.
