Thailand will present Asean members with updates on the Thai-Cambodian border clashes at the Asean Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM) in Malaysia on Monday, amid rising international pressure for the two nations to deescalate tensions.
Thailand will call on Cambodia to declare and uphold a ceasefire and to cooperate in mine-clearance efforts, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) spokesman Nikorndej Balankura said.
The AMM is expected to take place in Kuala Lumpur on Monday, with representatives from both Thailand and Cambodia attending.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has said the meeting could serve as a platform to persuade the two sides to deescalate border tensions and, if possible, reach a ceasefire.
