Gold momentum continues amid safe-haven demand

Gold kick-started the New Year on a strong note last Friday, resuming its rally after ending 2025 with gains of 64%, the largest since 1979, though prices were down from the week before.

The afternoon fixing on Friday in London was $4,352.95 an ounce, compared with $4,480.80 a week earlier. Thai selling prices were quoted at 64,950 baht per baht-weight (15.2 grammes), down 1,550 baht from the previous week.
Geopolitical tension and expectations of US interest rate cuts have been keeping demand for gold high.
