FM discusses border row with world leaders

>>Foreign Affairs Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow has arrived in New York to attend the 80th United Nations General Assembly and engage with world leaders to address the escalating tension along the Thai-Cambodian border.

Ministry spokesman Nikorndej Balankura said Mr Sihasak held talks with senior representatives of states that play key roles in shaping UN actions, in response to the tension along the border.

Mr Nikorndej said Mr Sihasak met his Japanese counterpart, Takeshi Iwaya, who is also chair of the Ottawa Convention (anti-mine treaty). Cambodia is accused of deploying landmines during the border conflict.
