Premier unveils govt focus before election

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has confirmed that the House of Representatives is set to be dissolved by January next year, paving the way for a general election to be held by March or, at the latest, early April.

Mr Anutin said that the government is currently preparing its policy statement for presentation to parliament, which will outline its strategic focus on addressing four key areas: the economy, national security, disaster response, and social issues.

He also announced that the government will organise a referendum on a constitutional amendment with the aim of ensuring public participation in the drafting of a new charter.

This referendum is scheduled to coincide with the next general election.
