Magic of Christmas brought to children living with cancer
Ayrshire Post
|December 17, 2025
Ayrshire Cancer Support has developed a special Santa's Grotto at their newly refurbished centre in Ayr for children living with cancer and their siblings.
The carefully considered environment was decorated with the support of staff and volunteers, and Santa will be presenting gifts gratefully donated by Kindness Krew to the children today and tomorrow.
Director of Care Services Craig Blackwood said: “We decided to run a Santa's Grotto with prebooked appointment slots for children with cancer, and their families, over two afternoons.”
He explained: “These kids often miss out on community events due to being immunocompromised and avoiding crowded settings, so we have implemented “Covid-type” safety precautions to reassure families and allow them to experience the magic of Christmas.
