Community unites to celebrate

Alloway, Doonfoot & St Leonards Community Council, as part of the VE Day 80th Anniversary Celebrations, hosted a special event in Alloway Village Hall.

They invited the community and beyond to “Come Celebrate” and they did in numbers. To a full house the evening began with an air raid siren resounding in a darkened hall prompting the audience to reflect on sounds of wartime.

With lights turned up, the audience, welcomed by ADSLCC, Chair, Andrew Russell, were treated to an evening program opening with the hopeful lyrics of The White Cliffs of Dover, made famous by Dame Vera Lynn and an anthem of WWII.

Songstress, Alana Hollywood - The Pinup Singer, continued with a medley of tunes, inspiring foot tapping, flag waving, and singing along.
