Though pricey, precious metals' charm intact

Gold 1.5x and silver 2x pricier than last year; while quantity of sales drops, value matches that of last year; muhurat till 2 pm today

Gold and silver sales-in quantity may have sold less this Dhanteras but matched the value (in rupees) of last year's sales.

With correction in the gold and silver prices on Saturday, the customers were seen enthusiastically shopping on the auspicious day.

In spite of the lesser quantity sales in both metals, the price hike compared to last year saved the industry from a disappointing situation because compared to last Dhanteras, there was a 75-80% sales this Dhanteras.

It is also to be noted that the auspicious day will continue till 2 pm on Sunday as per the Hindu calendar.
