Series loss exposes deep flaws, leaves India searching for answers

The South African cricket team under the able leadership of an underrated Temba Bavuma played like the true World Test Champions who walked into the Indian household and beat us all hands up without even a contest.

- KIRAT DAMANI

An extraordinary all round performance as a team with different players raising hands to take the onus of doing the job in different situations made this outstanding series win possible for the Proteas. Visitors were aware of the fact that playing against Team India in Indian sub continent conditions with crowd backing their heroes was not going to be an easy task especially with the form that India showed in the last Test series in England commendably, but they fantastically stuck to the fundamentals to bring out the best of each player.

The way Senuran and Jansen crafted innings after losing five early wickets against a strong Indian attack at Guwahati, understanding the significance of posting a commendable first innings total on this wicket, was simply out of the top drawer. Jansen then bowled beautifully to have picked five wickets on a day three wicket was simply phenomenal. An accurate Simon Harmer bowling conventional off-spin ended up taking nine wickets in the second match, making a tally of 17 wickets in just two test matches, almost running through half of the Indian batters in two games was something which Indian batsmen could have easily negotiated better.
