How Auli'i Stays True to Herself

Actor gives credit to her Hawaiian roots, says they 'haven't steered me wrong yet'

Actor Auli'i Cravalho may be building a strong career in Hollywood, but the Moana 2 star says her sense of self remains firmly tied to her Hawaiian upbringing.

Speaking at a Hollywood event earlier this month, the 24-year-old actor told People magazine that her roots continue to guide her in both life and work.

"I didn't grow up in this industry. I'm born and raised in Hawaii," Cravalho said. "My people love life, and they're also not afraid to tell you when you're wrong. And so I try to take that with me wherever I go. It hasn't steered me wrong yet."
