Up from sanctioned strength of 313; state govt had sought increase of 30 posts; Centre clears half

- | Ahmedabad Mirror Bureau

In a move aimed at easing the administrative strain in Gujarat, the Centre has increased the sanctioned strength of the state's IAS cadre from 313 to 328, approving 15 additional posts.

The decision follows a proposal from the Gujarat government, which had sought an increase of 30 posts to take the total strength to 343. However, the Centre cleared only half the request.
