'Boss on WhatsApp' scam costs Bopal firm Rs 60 lakh

Crooks hack consultant’s WhatsApp Web and pose as his boss to order fraudulent fund transfers, using a new trick
A company in Bopal has lost Rs 60 lakh to a clever cyber fraud, setting off alarm bells for businesses. The fraudsters didn’t use typical fake links or malware. Instead, they broke into the company’s chartered accountant’s WhatsApp Web and pretended to be his boss.
A complaint was filed with the City Cyber Cell on Thursday.
