ASI Proposes Traffic Ban for Historical Darwaja Restoration

Preservation effort might reshape traffic patterns, force new route for Rath Yatra

Archaeological Survey of India has proposed a complete traffic ban through Ahmedabad's historical darwajas and removal of encroachments around these heritage structures. The proposal comes after a wooden gate portion at Dilli Darwaja recently collapsed, raising urgent preservation concerns.

ASI sent a formal letter to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation suggesting immediate action to protect the century-old gates. The plan includes barricading similar to what's already in place at Astodia Gate.
