Woods' wonder goal secures Reds' status

ACCRINGTON Stanley secured their League Two status in style with a Ben Woods wonder goal sealing a win at promotion-chasing Walsall.

Woods lofted the ball with the outside of his foot into the roof of the net for his fourth goal in six games and his most spectacular.

It was Woods' ninth goal of the campaign and gave Stanley more than the point they needed to guarantee League Two football next season although Carlisle's defeat meant the Reds were safe no matter what.

The Stanley fans decked out in fancy dress celebrated a seventh away win of the campaign, another welcome clean sheet and the three points lifted the Reds to 19th place in the table.

For one-time runaway leaders Walsall, who ended the game with ten men, it extended their run without a win to 13 games.
