The prestigious friendly was the second time Stanley Women have faced The Isle of Man in the last three years
ACCRINGTON Stanley Women ended the 2024/25 season with a hard-fought 1-0 win against The Isle of Man National Women’s Team in a prestigious friendly held at the Wham Stadium.
Debutant Darcie Dixon scored the only goal of the game nine minutes from time, as Stanley Women ended the season on a high.
The match was part of an action-packed weekend of activities at the Wham Stadium for Stanley Women, which included awards presentations, youth tournaments, food and drink stalls and an appearance from Strongman legend Mark Felix.
With many of the local community visiting the Wham Stadium over the weekend, it was a fitting way to end a remarkable season which has seen Stanley Women reach two cup finals, enjoy the most successful FA Cup run in the club's history and finish second in a very entertaining North West Womens Regional League - Division One North.
On what was a momentous weekend for the club, Stanley Women U13 Reds enjoyed County Cup success, with Summer Craven, Hallie Rusyn, Lottie Smith and Isla Schofield scoring the goals to secure a 4-0 win in the final at The County Ground in Leyland.
The victorious U13 Reds arrived back at the club's awards night to a rapturous reception, where they were able to parade their trophy, which was formally handed to them by the Mayor of Hyndburn, Cllr Mike Booth.
