Mum died after taking nitrous oxide while she had a chest infection

A MOTHER died after inhaling laughing gas while she was suffering from a chest infection, a coroner has ruled.

Kira Leigh Booth, 21, formerly of Accrington, was found dead at her ground floor flat in Chatburn Avenue, Burnley, by her support worker who dropped by for a visit on November 12, 2024.

Her support worker first knocked on the door but heard no response, the hearing was told.

She then peered through the window and immediately called emergency services when she saw Kira unresponsive on her bed.

An inquest on Friday, May 2, at Preston Coroner's Court, heard Kira had struggled with her mental health for many years and was sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

She had lived in a mother and baby unit after giving birth but had then moved into a flat in Burnley.

The court heard how Kira had been hearing voices which led to her baby being taken away but she still saw her child.
