A NEW Home Bargains store creating more than 70 jobs in Great Harwood has finally been given the go-ahead following a two-year legal battle.
Heys Lane in Great Harwood, where the new Home Bargains store will be built
Hyndburn Borough Council’s planning committee unanimously gave the retailer outline planning permission in June 2024 for a new £6m store and garden centre at the old gas holder site on Heys Lane.
It was described at the time by former council leader Miles Parkinson as the “final piece of the jigsaw for regenerating this part of Great Harwood.”
Councillor Stewart Eaves also said: “This is good news. It really takes up what has been a blighted area for a lot of years.”
