Gloucester hang on to snatch it in a thriller

THE Kingsholm faithful certainly had their money’s worth as Gloucester began their league season with a last-minute winner to nick a thrilling game, which neither side deserved to lose.

After a numbers of controversial calls in the dying stages and deep into added time, Jamal Ford-Robinson forced his way over and was awarded a try after seemingly endless replays.

Just minutes earlier Quins had looked to have secured victory when Luke North more intercepted a George Barton pass to race 60 metres but more lengthy replays showed a high tackle from Jarrod Evans.

Evans was yellow-carded and that gave Gloucester their chance to build up relentless pressure before Ford-Robinson crashed over to the delight of the home crowd.

Harlequins head coach Billy Millard said: “There were some big decisions and calls in that final period but I can’t really comment on some of them as I’d already left the box.

“I’m proud of the performance as we were really good in the first half but after that we were a bit ropey.
