England can go all the way, says Ojo
The Rugby Paper
|July 30, 2023
TOPSY Ojo believes England have a great opportunity in the World Cup to go deep in the tournament and provide a launchpad to rebuild English rugby.
Due to a favourable draw made in 2020, England have an easier route to the semi-finals with Steve Borthwick's side not facing a team above them in the World Rugby rankings until at least the last four.
Former England winger Ojo says England must take advantage of their fortune and build momentum from the outset.
He said: "Because of how open the tournament is, England and Australia can turn up and have a really decent run. I think England have a very good chance, it's about starting well building momentum and carrying that right the way through the tournament.
"Everyone will look at that side of the draw and say they're on the more favourable side but you've still got to win those games and hope that by the time you do get to the quarter-finals that you're really battle ready; you've had some tough fixtures, been able to build up some momentum because you get through the knockout stages and it's shootout rugby.
"As we saw in 2019, the semi-final against New Zealand was incredible but we weren't able to back it up in the final.
