REIGNING champions Gloucester-Hartpury spoiled Harlequins’ party at Big Game 15 with a fine victory at Twickenham to make it four wins from four and move third in the table.
Quins were denied a losing bonus point at the death having fought back from 26 points down and remain eighth after a fourth defeat in a row.
Gloucester lock Sam Monaghan, who got their second try, said: “We had a really strong 20 but our discipline let us down at the start of the second half. We let Quins into the game but we finished strong and got over the line.”
Hannah Jones opened the scoring within three minutes with a converted try, capitalising on strong work from the forwards to cross from close range.
The visitors quickly scored their second after patient build-up play as Monaghan scythed through the defence, with Emma Sing converting.
