AMPTHILL'S ever-present No.8 Morgan Strong has been a key figure in the club's fast start this season and says last weekend's victory over Coventry shows they can mix it with the league's top sides.

Ampthill aim for top four after Cov win

The 23-year-old Welshman has played in all seven of Ampthill's fixtures in the Championship and Premiership Cup this season, scoring two tries.

Former Ösprey Strong, below, who is 6ft 2in and 16st 5lbs, says turning Dillingham Park into a fortress was a pre-season goal. He sees the 34-24 win over a Coventry side that finished third last season, and beat Saracens and drew against Harlequins in the Premiership Cup, as a statement of intent.

"We've spoken about turning our home into a place sides don't want to come. It's somewhere we want to take some big wins and Saturday backed that up," he told He told The Rugby Paper.
