MAC'S ALL SET TO SHAKE IT UP.

NEW Bury FC boss Dave McNabb knew taking charge of the Shakers would be good - but he didn't realise quite how good.

- Matt Badcock

MAC'S ALL SET TO SHAKE IT UP.

McNabb has replaced Andy Welsh at the Gigg Lane helm and is charged with winning promotion from the North West Counties League Premier.

It's a feat he achieved with Warrington Rylands back in 2021 as they won promotion to Step 4 with a league and FA Vase double, before a second successive promotion to Step 3.

His new Shakers reign kicked off with three points on Tuesday night thanks to a 1-0 win over FC Isle of Man.

And McNabb, who left Step 4 Bootle to take the role, admits he was blown away by the whole occasion.

"Obviously you're aware of the background of Bury going out of existence a few years back, reforming, the two clubs coming together, Gigg Lane, the crowd numbers and all that good stuff," McNabb told The NLP.

"So I was expecting it to be something really good. But we were just absolutely blown away by it. It was such a special experience. The noise the fans made, the atmosphere, that was down to them.
