WHILE Prescot Cables’ jubilant players celebrated being promoted after prevailing in a play-off final, their manager stood back and watched.

From Ste Daley’s spot in the home dressing room, by the entry to the showers, the scale of his side’s achievement started to sink in.

“Somebody said to me I had the biggest smile on my face,” he told The NLP.

“That’s the moment that gave me the most joy if I’m honest – seeing what it meant to everybody else.”

The Pesky Bulls had waited since their relegation from the Northern Premier League’s top flight in 2009 to return again.

After finishing third in the West Division, they recorded wins without conceding a goal against Merseyside rivals Bootle and then City of Liverpool to ensure they join champions Leek at a higher level next season.
