CHOOSING THE RIGHT DOCTOR, WHETHER FOR A LIFESAVING MEDICAL procedure or an elective cosmetic surgery, can be one of the most important health decisions a person makes.

LEADING DOCTORS and BEST PLASTIC SURGEONS

From relieving chronic pain and restoring mobility or vision, to enhancing appearance and confidence, working with the right specialist can have a lasting impact on outcomes, recovery and overall quality of life. In the U.S., there are more than one million licensed physicians and over 7,000 practicing plastic surgeons. With so many options available, finding a doctor or surgeon can be overwhelming, especially when the stakes are high or the decision is deeply personal. To help patients find trusted, high-quality care, Newsweek, in partnership with global data intelligence firm Statista, is proud to present the 2025 list of America’s Leading Doctors and Best Plastic Surgeons. This year, we've recognized 2,845 top-performing specialists across 15 critical fields including cardiothoracic, spine, vascular and joint surgery, as well as 458 outstanding plastic surgeons in six common procedure areas: breast augmentation, eyelid surgery, facelift, liposuction, rhinoplasty and—for the first time—tummy tuck. To identify the nation’s most respected specialists, we conducted an in-depth evaluation that included analysis based on Medicare Fee-for-Service claims and commercial data on procedure performance sourced from Arcadia, an online survey of tens of thousands of medical professionals, peer quality-of-care assessments and verification of board certifications. Plastic surgeons were recognized based on a national survey conducted from March to May, which resulted in the collection of more than 10,000 votes for plastic surgeons representing all surgical categories. Only surgeons in the 20 states with the highest number of practitioners were eligible, and those performing only reconstructive or non-elective procedures were excluded. We hope these rankings help those seeking advanced care for a complex condition or pursuing a cosmetic transformation find a respected doctor or surgeon in their area.
