America’s Best Hospitals for Specialized Care 2026

When facing a complex medical diagnosis, finding the right specialist isn’t just a step in the treatment process—it is often the most critical decision a patient or family will make.

To help patients confidently navigate their health care journey, Newsweek has partnered with global market research firm Statista to present the America’s Best Hospitals for Specialized Care 2026 ranking.

This ranking recognizes excellence in advanced, specialized medicine. The 2026 ranking honors 1,375 hospitals across seven specialties that consistently deliver world-class clinical outcomes: Medical needs are diverse, and Newsweek's rankings continue to evolve to reflect the full spectrum of specialized health care.

To ensure this ranking remains the most trusted and rigorous resource of its kind, the scoring model has been significantly strengthened and refined for 2026. The methodology features the powerful integration of a new data source: The Leapfrog Group.

By incorporating Leapfrog data, the evaluation now benefits from a comprehensive set of specialty-specific safety and quality indicators. This data is seamlessly blended with key medical accreditations, certifications, designations and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services quality indicators.

“Specialized care is becoming an increasingly important differentiator in the American health care landscape, as hospitals expand beyond traditional service lines to meet growing demand for targeted expertise. By adding a new specialty for 2026, America’s Best Hospitals for Specialized Care highlights the breadth and maturity of care now available to patients across the country,” says Alexis Kayser, Newsweek's health care editor.

We hope this ranking serves as a vital tool in helping you and your loved ones find the highest-quality specialized care when it matters most.
