AMERICA'S BEST HOME HEALTH AGENCIES 2026
Newsweek US
|November 21, 2025
ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT decisions families face is choosing the right care for themselves or a loved one after a hospital stay or while living with a chronic condition.
Home health agencies play a critical role in this process, providing skilled nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapy and medical social services to older adults and other vulnerable populations in the comfort of a patient's home. For many, these services are essential in supporting recovery, maintaining independence and improving quality of life.
With over 10,000 agencies operating across the United States, narrowing the field to find trusted, high-quality care can be daunting.
To help guide that process, Newsweek and global data intelligence firm Statista are proud to introduce the inaugural ranking of America’s Best Home Health Agencies 2026, highlighting top providers in the 25 states with the highest number of home health agencies, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
This year’s list recognizes 300 top providers across the country, evaluated on four data sources: quality metrics, peer recommendations, patient experience and accreditations. Quality metrics carried the greatest weight in the scoring model, reflecting the emphasis on clinical outcomes and safety, while survey input from health professionals and patients added valuable perspectives on agency performance. Accreditation data from Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Community Health Accreditation Partner and The Joint Commission were also included in the analysis.
The result is a state-by-state list of agencies that stood out for their commitment to delivering reliable, evidence-based care in a home setting.
Home health agencies recognized in the ranking include Home Health Professionals - Dallas in Texas, Patriot at Home - Youngstown/Warren in Ohio, Sarasota Home Health Care Agency - Sarasota Branch in Florida and Springhill Home Health & Hospice in Alabama.
We hope this ranking helps families make informed decisions when it comes to ensuring safe and effective care for themselves or their loved ones.
