MAHINDRA HAS TRIED TO MAKE THE THAR MORE LUXURIOUS, AND PRACTICAL WHILE RETAINING THE DNA. HAS IT.SUCCEEDED?

The Mahindra Thar has been a truly aspirational vehicle since its launch. The masculine looks and go-anywhere capability have been the biggest draw. Back in 2020, the Thar became a lot more sophisticated but was not exactly a family vehicle. With the new Thar Roxx, Mahindra is trying to offer us the best of both worlds. So what has been done to achieve this?
The Thar Roxx's major pull remains its design. It is unmistakably the icon that it was. The front-end is reminiscent of the three-door version but look closely and you will notice new LED headlamps complete with Cshaped DRLs. The grille is new too and within it resides a small 360-degree camera, which is equipped with level 2 ADAS. The fender still houses a light panel but this time, it functions only as the indicators. The Roxx now houses an additional door on each side that allows access to the rear seats. It rides on 19-inch alloys, which feature a new look. The tyres are MRF Wanderers with block patterns that scream 'go-anywhere ability'. Mahindra is also offering a sidestep for easier ingress/egress. At the back comes new LED tail lights and the large spare wheel sits on the split tailgate. The Roxx comes with a metal hardtop-the black treatment makes it look like the OG Thar which got a fibre top.
