The Vogrie Pogrie festival turns the woods and parkland of Midlothian into a haven for makers, dreamers and performers
COME September, summer in Scotland is starting to wind down, and so is festival season. One event held in Midlothian, however, offers a great way to enjoy one last get-together.
Described as a “festival of creativity and curious happenings”, Vogrie Pogrie brings together over 150 artists who perform or lead activities for everyone to enjoy — no matter their age — and includes things like open-air theatre, live music, circus acts, comedy, cabaret, dance, immersive workshops, face painting, crafts and more.
“There's a little bit for everyone,” says Lucy Hopkins, co-creative director of Vogrie Pogrie. “People can wander around in an environment where they can discover things. We have a double-decker bus where we host workshops in the daytime. In the evening it becomes a bar. There’s music in the woodland and it’s lovely to listen to live music surrounded by trees.
