A Tapestry Of Sound

Cloth have picked up new threads for their bolder second album
-
EVER since they were teenagers, breaking down songs by The Darkness into their component parts and piecing them back together on a four-track tape recorder, Rachael and Paul Swinton have shared a common creative language. But for second album Secret Measure, the Glasgow-based twin brother and sister behind Cloth decided to widen their collaborative circle, bringing bold new musical dimensions to their critically-acclaimed bedroom pop.
Not that cryptophasia did the duo any harm: their 2019 self-titled debut took them to the likes of Latitude and Connect Festival, soundtracked future Oscar nominee Paul Mescal in the BBC adaptation of Sally Rooney's Normal People and was shortlisted for the 2020 SAY Award. But by consciously breaking out of their comfort zone, Cloth - who perform at TRNSMT next month have embraced their idiosyncrasies, forged new creative connections and pushed their sound to new heights.
