VELROSE PEREIRA Exploring Music as "A Never-Ending Experience of Growth"
Incredible Goa
|December 2024
The trumpet, a brass instrument known for its complexity, is often considered one of the most challenging instruments to master.
However, Velrose Pereira, a seasoned trumpeter, singer, and songwriter, has not only conquered this art but has also become a celebrated figure in Goa's music scene.
Born in Goa but raised in Muscat, Oman, Velrose's connection to her roots has always been strong. "My maternal grandmother instilled my love for Goa and Konkani during my early years," she says, noting that the time spent with her grandparents in Goa left a lasting impact. Though she grew up in Oman, the love for Goa remained ever-present, making it no less than a home for Velrose.
After completing high school in Oman, Velrose moved to Canada to pursue her Fine Arts Honours degree in Performing Arts from York University. Her father, Avers Pereira, a prominent Tiatrist, played a significant role in shaping her musical journey. Having performed alongside some of the biggest names in the industry-such as the late Alfred & Rita Rose, Prince Jacob, and the late H. Britton-Avers Pereira's influence was instrumental in guiding Velrose toward her musical path.
Choosing the Trumpet
When asked about her decision to pick the trumpet, Velrose shares, "My dad always told me to take the road less traveled, to have greater life experiences and lessons. Perhaps this is why, unintentionally, I was drawn to the trumpet." True to her father's advice, Velrose has never shied away from challenges. Rather than following the conventional path, she opted for an instrument that demanded skill, perseverance, and precision.

ENHANCED CONTROL OF GST EVASION IN EVENTS INDUSTRY
Under GST law, any person who occasionally undertakes taxable supplies in a state where they have no fixed place of business must register as a CTP at least five days before starting their business, regardless of their turnover. The government has found that many of these organizers leave the state after an event without paying tax, and the property owners often fail to cooperate with officials once the event is over.
