May 2024

CHEW GHIM BOK, Chair of the Host Organisation Committee of the 2024 Rotary International Convention in Singapore, shares what's in store for the event, happening from 25 to 29 May.

Impacting Communities Globally

Tell us a bit about yourself and your family.

I grew up in Singapore and went to the University of Liverpool, graduating in 1981. After returning here, I worked for two years in the computing industry before setting up my own financial services business.

I’m semi-retired now but busier than ever, spending 80 percent of my time volunteering!

My three children have now all grown up. Two studied in the United States and now live there, while my youngest daughter returned to Singapore after studying in the UK.

I’ve lived in Holland Village since 1982 and it has been fascinating to witness how the area has changed over the last 42 years. A little further down the road is Dempsey; I still remember it as the army administrative camp and the place where I enlisted for National Service. Now we go there to enjoy great food!
