PICKING dandelions is messy, with the oozing white sap enough to put off PICK young garland makers, but pioneering scientists have come up with a way to boost and harvest the latex found in that milky substance.
Over the next three years, a Defra-funded project will farm a variety of the yellow plant that grows in Kazakhstan, having gene-edited it to increase the potency of the rubber produced in its roots.
