Khushnu Panthaki Hoof shares a glimpse of her life with her legendary grandfather, architect BV Doshi, and how it shaped her work

She was an introvert child in other people's stories. Now she's writing her own where she often borrows from her grandfather's letters to her, after all it is a historic ledger of sorts. Growing up, Khushnu spent a fair amount of time with her legendary grandfather, architect BV Doshi. Her mother married young, which meant that when Khushnu was born, Doshi was only 50 years old. “I had inherited another set of parents,” laughs Khushnu recounting her time in her grandfather's home. For her, her dada was a prankster, playing tricks “often embarrassing us by hugging trees,” she says.
