Instead of sweating over New Year's resolutions, busy yourself by dreaming up a luxurious escape
Is this the most luxurious hotel in Copenhagen? The historic five-star hotel has sat in the Kongens Nytorv public square for over 270 years and is only getting better with age. The lofty façade hides 92 rooms and suites, each with its own unique design. Hotel d'Angleterre is home to a Michelin-starred restaurant, Marchal, serving contemporary Nordic cuisine. There's also the decadent Balthazar champagne bar, or try the Wes Anderson-approved pink patisserie, with a menu packed with treats like elderflower mousse, macarons and spiced syrup cake. After a day's sightseeing, head to the spa to peruse the equally enticing menu of treatments.

CYPRIANERHOF RESORT
Italy
Tucked away in the Dolomites, 1,200m above sea level, the five-star Cyprianerhof resort manages to fuse activity and wellness with downright luxury amid the splendour of the mountains. In winter, guides can help you summit the surrounding peaks, or you can try ice climbing or a ski safari. In summer, hike, bike, climb or play a round of golf. Try hot-and-cold therapy with a little help from the resort's spa and natural springs. There's a glass sauna (so you don't miss a second of those views) as well as an inventive wellness programme featuring foraged Alpine herbs. At the end of a long day full of fresh air and relaxation, curl up by the fire in the Culture Lounge and enjoy entertainment from local musicians, often making use of the handsome grand piano.

TASTEMAKER EMILIO GIOVANAZZI
The first time Emilio Giovanazzi was asked to create a cocktail list, he was working in Paperinos, the beloved but now-closed Italian restaurant in Glasgow that belonged to his uncle. “It was a great place, and it would consistently win awards for its wine list,” he recalls. As the city’s eating habits evolved, they needed to think of a way to attract a younger crowd. Emilio's dad (who owned La Parmigiana restaurant), figured cocktails was the answer. “He went to a charity shop and picked up the first cocktail book he could find,” says Emilio. “And it happened to be The Savoy Cocktail Book.”
