LIVING IN LINE WITH NATURE

Vastu Architect Maanushri Agarwal reveals how adding a touch of green can align your home with nature...and your energy!

In the ancient Indian science of Vastu Shastra, trees and plants are not merely decorative elements, they are sources of life energy. When aligned correctly, they can enhance health, prosperity and inner peace within a home.

Here's how you can create a Vastu-aligned green space that resonates with the five elements of nature.

WHEN AND HOW TO PLANT

Auspicious timing: Plant during shukla paksha (bright lunar fortnight), especially close to the full moon.

First in clay pots: Begin with saplings in clay pots, then shift them to the ground for better growth and rooting.

Tree Removal

1. Remove trees only in the months of Magha or Bhadrapada.

2. Perform a short puja, seek forgiveness, and promise to plant a new tree within three months.

3. Ensure the tree falls towards the East or North — never South or West.

ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES

Creepers should be planted only on independent supports, never allowed to climb on compound walls or buildings, as they block energy flow and weaken structures.

Rock gardens or stone sculptures should be placed in the Southwest, due to their heaviness.

Water sprinkling in the North and East enhances the land's energy absorption.
